These summer months are quite exciting. This is not just because of the iphone but all the other product announcements that the iphone generates. Verizon has said that they will announce an iphone Killer this summer and now there is a post at Palm Addict about a possible new product announcement from Palm. Could this be what Jeff Hawkins talked about in reference to the “D5 Conference” conference next week on May 29th. Didn’t Jeff Hawkins say something about anyone interested in Palm should be listening to that event.
Here is the quote from Jeff:

Palm has released a web portal for its Treo mobile users. If you are a Treo owner you’re in luck. Some of the services include free 24/7 members-only phone support, direct notification of updates and new software, insider tips and how to’s, and a personal Palm account and home page. I think this is a major step in the right direction although I wish they could have extended this to traditional Palm Users and not just Treo users. There are still some of us out there. This site seems to be geared to the cellular mobile customer and would seem to tie in into a great way to get a customer demographic for these services and provide a store for a targeted market. There is a link for other devices but you are taken to the product page for your particular device on Palm.com. MyPalm beta is not a bad name but you’d think there would be an easily accessible url. I have not seen one yet from the articles on it that I have viewed. Click here to visit
This week I stopped by the Palm Store in New York. It is located near the corner of 50th and 6th ave. I took this “man on the field” picture (captured by the Palm Zire 72). The store at the time I was there was mostly empty. Their location is right inside one of the Rockerfeller Center Buildings. It was great to see the big Palm Logo inside the store. As you can see their main focus is the Treo. I have lots more productivity posts planned for the week. Stay Tuned.
Sound the gongs! Big news from Palm about future projects. One of the biggest pieces of news is that they will develop a Palm Linux OS by the end of the year. This OS will be a Palm developed OS not at all related to Access. The guys at PalmAddicts have done a great job of covering every part of it. They even have a brochure like layout of the whole event. Just check out the following link - Click here.. You can also check out their video cast summation of the event by clicking here. The event was also an opportunity to let everyone know of their rich history in the handheld environment and their global reach around the world.
Jeff Hawkins speaks. Finally, Palm fans will have something to look out for. Palm is talking about its plans for the future and it looks very promising. I don’t think this could have come at a better time given all the speculation about Palm being bought by who knows who. We probably would have liked to ask our own questions but we did get a little glimpse of what there is to look forward to.
