This allows you to display a chart on your iphone based on responses to a form you create on Google Docs & Spreadsheets that can be either be emailed or embedded into a blog. For example on the You Tube page I created a link to a rating form for this video and a link you can use to view the results.
Jason knows Treo. In this little visual tutorial Jason does his attack and hack move to disable both his captors and the Handspring Treo. He pulls out the Sim Card, copies information into his cell using an intermediary gadget, replaces it and drops it on the floor next to his unconscious Treo owner faster than you can read this sentence. To see some amazing close-up pics showing how he did this read more. Read the rest of this entry »
There are many in the Palm Community who wish Palm would make a newer version of the Palm TX with phone capability. Well, it may surprise the uninitiated to know that you can actually use the Palm TX to make calls. The key to this depends on your definition of what it means to make calls. Here is my definition and description: I take out my palm, go through my contacts, do a couple of clicks, hear the phone ringing on my ear piece and I start talking when someone answers. You can do this and you don’t even need to touch a keypad on the Palm or cell phone. When your are done all you need to do is click the “end” button on your ear piece and you are done. The best thing about this is you can take all the notes you want, schedule appointments & tasks, and not even have to worry about any conflict with phone functionality. How is this done? Better because this version requires no holes and you now have a video demo from “mranderson” which demonstrates this perfectly. The hack is via the famous Dimitry. My original post can be found by clicking here. To visit Mr Anderson’s Blog click here

I didn’t want to leave those of you unaccustomed to internal circuit boards out in the lurch. I know well enough that there may also be some well informed readers who would quickly point out that there are other ways. Here is one that does not require elbow grease. You just have to pay for someone else’s. Some ingenious hacker out there created an attachment microphone that attaches to the connector at the bottom of your TX. He even managed to allow space for the charging connector. This has become a little cottage industry for him and he now sells them on his own site. The disadvantage, of course, is the fuzzy protrusion - not exactly the way normal voice recorders usually design their microphones. You can check out the full review of this hack at Palm Infocenter by clicking here.
I can’t always come up with original content. I do hope that my particular focus finds a unique audience out there. There are literally thousands of palm software out there and Palm Addict definitely has more posts a day than I do. On some occasions they have more in one day than I do in a week. However, what I am hoping for is that the things I do focus on would be the kind of thing you would be willing to pick out of the dumpster if you were to go dumpster diving. I must admit I have been busy lately and some of my posts have been devoid of humor but I believe that it is at the very least head and shoulders above what you’d find on Palm’s Official blog. :-). Alright, alright I’ll get to the post! I was just chatting it up to you before I go all 11 O’clock news anchor. There are hacks and then there are hacks. Read the rest of this entry »
Palm has a great instant search feature but it is not where you’d think it would be. I find the Quick Look Up feature of the contact/address book a very powerful search utility. It is something I even thought should be used for outliners like Bonsai. With one hand you are able to find a specific item and select it with just a few navigator clicks. There are many possible uses for it especially when you consider that you have 15 categories. All you need to do is save one for the address book and you can create 14 different types of search databases. I welcome your suggestions in the comments. I’ll start off with one useful database. If you own a TX today’s posting will be something to both surprise and delight. It almost totally revolutionizes your Palm and makes the TX even more Iphone-like. I usually say one of the best things about a free program is the fact that it’s free but in this case it may be the program itself. I saw this on Palmaddict so forgive me if you have seen this one before. The program just came out about a week ago, so this is a relatively new offering. What is it? The best way I can think to describe it is by saying to you “Do you know those full screen pda devices with a slider keyboard?” Well, imagine that instead of a slider there was a virtual keyboard on the screen and you’d have a pretty good idea of what the ThumbboardDA does. I have used it and it is simply awesome and oh yes free. I even have an authentic Zire 72 picture after the “more” link. The product screenshot does not do it justice as it looks all scrunched up and you don’t get a sense of what is possible in landscape mode. Read the rest of this entry »
