Hello Palm Organized readers. I am proud to announce my 1st in a 3 part series of interviews with George Wayland of Natara Software. He was generous to offer his time to indulge me in my questions about their software, Palm Inc, the Iphone, GTD and more. I could have done it as a straight audio but that would not be in keeping with the high stardards of Palm Organized. Thank you for your readership and I will strive to make this site better and better. Enjoy. In this first section we talk about how they got the name Bonsai and the new Daynotez.

A key aspect to being organized is being ready. One thing I do has to do with how I set up my Calendar in Palm. If you have a Palm you may find that right now your calendar is either set to the agenda view or the daily view. I set my calendar to the month view. This saves me from going to the monthly or weekly view to schedule something. I find that most of the time when I schedule something it is not on the same day and on some occasions not even in the same week. When your Palm opens up to the monthly view you are in most cases one tap away from the day you want to schedule an appointment for. What if you want to see what you are doing today? Like I said, a key aspect to being organized is being ready and I am ready for that question. My reply is that you can get to today with 2 clicks of your center select button on your 5 way navigator or 2 clicks of your calendar hard key. Display options under the options menu allows you to set the default view.
Bonus Trick: If you use your stylus and write a number (in the day view) you are brought to a screen where you can select the time for your appointment. So to recap, you can hit the calendar button to see the current month, select the day for your appointment with one tap, and set the time for it in one stroke. This is just 3 movements. Maybe I should have titled this “Palm Calendar Quick Taps.”
This is something that was mentioned by at least 2 people in the comments section for the GTD Bonsai Template. It occured to me that I should put a survey, but just to start things off in a simpler way I thought I would measure responses with this post. The comment sections of a post are perfect for gathering public opinion. I invite you to weigh in on this if this topic is something you are interested in. Maybe if enough people do this it will send a message to the powers that be who may in their infinite wisdom look upon this with careful consideration. Maybe some of you would even have some suggestions for how to get them to work together.

Bonsai is an excellent palm program and there’s no greater testament to that fact than today’s Palm Organized blog post appropriately titled “Bonsaipod.” What I am about to describe to you is a method whereby you can view a Bonsai Outline on your ipod. Yes, your ipod. Practical uses for this besides an exclusive blog post on Palm Organized is the abiility to design outlines on the desktop to take with you on the ipod. In fact, I created an outline called “Mobile” that has information related to the places I go - restaurants, movie theaters, errands list, local area info, etc. All are fair game. You will be able to organize your notes by category for easy finding of relevant notes. You essentially have the best outliner as your Ipod desktop notes editor.

I know a blog is supposed to be updated almost daily but I wanted the GTD Implementation to marinate while the word gets out. However, I thought I would sneak in a quick post to both explain this rationale and offer a little tip.
Zooming on the Palm with the 5 way is really cool. Some of you may ask “Well, how can I do that on the desktop?” Simple. Use the combination of Alt & Z to Zoom in. The key combo for Zooming off is Alt & Y but you have cross towards the middle of the keyboard to get there. Also Alt Y takes Zoom Off rather than going back one level. Here is the tip. Using the same letter you used to Zoom in hit Ctrl Z. It undos what you did and Zooms you out one level rather than Zooming you off. Quick & simple.
