swype text entry

Swype is text entry for computer displays be it mobile or other. This was introduced at Techcrunch 50 and it looks like a game changer unless you look closely. I love technology like this because it brings me back to the days of graffiti on the Palm and the alternative methods introduced around that time. This swyping technique is not new though. Will it catch on now that the popularity of the iPhone opens the possibility for greater adoption. Here are some examples of these alternate text entry input software in the meantime.

PalmGear is back!

September 5, 2008SoftwareNo Comments

PalmGear is back and it already has way more apps than the app store! I never knew why the store went away. Even if the Palm was not as popular as it once was I didn’t see how revenue for the store would increase by creating a confusing mashup with PocketGear. I wasted a lot of hours searching for apps there and now can look forward to doing that some time soon to find rare gems. Everything seems pretty much as it was when it left but we are notified that it is now under new management. I found out about this on a post over at Palmaddicts. I wonder if all my links to software recommendations I made here in the past still work? If you are a Palm User this is certainly big news as one of the biggest strengths of the Palm is the library of third party software.

GTD iPhone Community Implementation Project. ALT + F then E

Visit GTD Community

I created a little application for the iPhone. I am not a programmer so it is very simple yet I believe useful enough to make a difference. It is all part of a plan to create a GTD Community so a group can assist each other in implementing GTD. I am using this post to see if there are any iPhone users interested in taking this on. I have set up a ning group for this very purpose. People who participate can write blogs and share their experiences and we will all help each other implement GTD. I know, I know, it is very difficult to implement without falling off the wagon. However, I have spent a lot of time figuring out how to make it a natural routine and I think I have hit on something. If you have an iPhone and you are interested in GTD I invite you to join. If you are a part of this I will distribute the app through the ning site and walk you though how this all works. It does not involves any rigid, complex methodology and is actually a lot of fun if you can believe that. :-) Click the image and/or link above to join and have your membership approved. I need a good size group before we start.

Google Spreadsheet iPhone Chart Hack

September 1, 2008Hack, Hardware, iPhone2 Comments

This allows you to display a chart on your iphone based on responses to a form you create on Google Docs & Spreadsheets that can be either be emailed or embedded into a blog.  For example on the You Tube page I created a link to a rating form for this video and a link you can use to view the results.
