iPhone Alarm Hack for your Web Programs

Tuesday, August 26, 2008Uncategorized

There are many types of software applications that help you manage your to dos and appointments outside of your default iPhone programs. Some of them are web based programs like Remember the Milk. If you have a program such as this and you want an alarm for those RTM events on your iPhone what is one to do? The internal alarms are reserved for the ones created from your calendar or alarm clock and as far as I know those programs do not have access to them. Out of sight out of mind and an alarm can do no harm. Sometimes an alert or alarm is the only thing that brings items like this into view.

I welcome your thoughts on this. Initially, I became focused on getting some software to get my phone to ring which is perfect for burning up minutes. After initial investigation I dropped this idea. However, I have an unlimited text phone plan (and I hear there is some AOL hack to get you SMS for free). If you have an iPhone you have a small selection of SMS alert sounds. Some alerts actually are quite effective at alarming you. Remember the milk can send you text alerts. The combination gives you a way to alert yourself of to dos and appointments with an iPhone like alarm sound. If your program only sends email notifications simply use the email for your SMS as the email and you can get alarmed. Electronic is my favorite SMS alarm on the iPhone. I will update you on those phone programs because they do come in handy in certain situations. In the meantime check out your SMS alarm choices and let me know what you think.
