Inbox Palm ProgramLet me start off by saying this application was made primarily for Palm OS 4. I wouldn’t normally profile a Palm program this old but it is too good to skip over. This little gem is only $10 and if you run Palm OS 4 this is your lucky day. It claims to work on Palm OS 5 & if you can get it to work you’ll be just as lucky. Inbox works almost like Slap but the difference between them is major. Slap provides you with a memo area where you can input text. Once entered this text can be transfered as a contact, address, task, memo, or even some third party applications like Daynotez. How is Inbox different and what does it do? It allows you to highlight text from any application on your palm and do the same thing intuitively. You can also use this to help you create emails including the to, subject & body sections and all in one transfer.

To give you an example, a simple text like “3/8 7 Meeting” creates an event with the name “Meeting” on March 8th of the current year at 7am. Now that’s cool. If it only translated text to the main applications that would be worth the $10 alone, in my opinion. However, it does more. It can transfer any highlighted text to another PDA, a cell phone, an external card & communicate with your computer through wireless protocols. You can even send your PC’s clipboard contents directly to your Palm. Also with certain third party software you can even send text to a printer.

I spoke briefly to the developer and he was generous enough to chat back and forth with me over email. When I told him I would be profiling his software here he said “I hope you all at Palmorganized find my software useful. You may be interested to know that the net profits of this software goes to charity” If you are running Palm OS 4 and you are looking for something to help process your inbox, you would be hard pressed to find something better than Inbox.
